Watercolor Bridal Bouquet Preservation

One of my favorite elements of any wedding are the bouquets. My heart always beats a little faster when I know the florist is about to bring them up. They're just always such gorgeous works of art. I love it when the bride gets a look at her flowers for the first time. It's has that "this is finally really happening" element to it; that hint of magic and romance every wedding, no matter how intimate or grand in scale, carries with it.

Brides always look to preserve a touch of that by preserving their bouquets, whether with the bouquet in it's entirety, or by just saving a few petals. It's tricky though, because I never feel like the preserved versions ever really come close to the vibrancy of that day.

Then I saw this idea on Alexan Events and couldn't believe I'd never thought of it! You can have it forever preserved with a watercolor painting!

via Alexan Events
Stunning, right? The paintings have so much romance and life to them! And all you need is a copy of one of the pictures that your photographer took from the day.

I love how the artist captured the ribbon and broach in this one as well as the flowers. You can really see the extra touches that made the bouquet personal and meaningful to that particular bride.

Wouldn't they be the perfect thing to frame and hang next to your invitation you saved or any other keepsake from your wedding day you've held onto?

What do you think of this idea? Would you have your bouquet preserved in watercolor?

Margaret & Ben

In March, we were lucky enough to be out at Sweetwater Branch Inn twice! Margaret & Ben got married there and I'm so excited to share with you some special images from their day! We had a great time planning with them long distance, since they planned everything from up north, where they live.

All the memories were captured by Kristin Kozelsky and they are seriously a-maz-ing! I say "memories" specifically too. Kristin practices what she calls "Beloved Photography." She describes it as "a very natural approach to photography. There's very little posing, and it helps people really get back to the core of what matters most in their relationships." Learn more about it out here!

You can't go wrong here: great venue, fantastic vendors, gorgeous flowers, couple so in love it shines through in every picture, and stunning personalized details scattered throughout the day!

Warning: I'm about to go a little picture happy in this post. I can't help it - they're that good! Just you wait and see:

Mustaches were everywhere in their wedding details! They even handed them out to guests to party with at the reception!

Do I need to say how much I loved these escort cards?!

Margaret & Ben had their first look in the gardens at Sweetwater, where the ceremony would take place. So romantic!

I LOVE how they look at each other! There's just so much joy shining out of their eyes....

By the way, their Bridal Party was the funnest! Who else could think of bouquet light sabers?!

All of the flowers were by the talented, and seriously fantastic, Plant Shoppe. We love working with Betsy and her team and ooh'd and aww'd over the flowers all day long! How cute are the pictures of Margaret & Ben next to their centerpieces? Guests were having the best time checking them out!

Their ceremony was held under the trees out in the gardens and completely fit them to a tee!

My favorite moment of the night however was when Ben got up with his acapella group from college and serenaded his bride with an impromptu performance - priceless!

Congratulations Margaret & Ben!!!! You made our jobs a joy and we couldn't be happier for you both!

And, thank you so much Kristin for sharing these stunning images of their day with us!

Wedding Worthy Lawn Games

Having Lawn Games at your wedding is an easy and fun way to keep your guests entertained throughout your cocktail hour and reception. Guests can mingle, complete, and just have a great time. Let's face it though - not all Lawn Games have a "perfect for your wedding" look to them.

Then I saw these and thought - Exactly!

Metallic Lawn Games via Style Me Pretty
I love the wooden sign with fancy writing on it, and placing it in the flower barrel adds that "wedding" touch. Having the Bocce Ball set be metallic - amazing! It's pretty and functional all together!

Are you having Lawn Games at your wedding? Are you doing anything to make them more "wedding worthy?" Comment and tell us how!

Baby's Breath & Weddings

Baby's Breath keeps cropping up everywhere in the wedding scene right now, and I have to say - I'm swooning at the pictures! I love how brides are letting it take center stage and shine!

From your bouquets to decor, it seems to fit and look great everywhere!

Baby's Breath as your main flower couldn't complete the look of a county chic wedding more perfectly. It's fantastic too for winter weddings!

Gorgeous, right?! It looks like magic snow!

And so affordable!!

What do you think about letting Baby's Breath have the spotlight? Would you use it at your wedding?

Amanda & Craig

I have to say - we love, love, LOVE it when couples choose amazing vendors for their weddings! We truly had an awesome team to work with for Amanda & Craig's big day in March - from Sweetwater, to Wayne's World Entertainment, to Dream Day Cakes, and now Rob Witzel Photography! We wanted to show you some of the fantastic images they captured of the day. Rob was so sweet to share them with us and we had to pass them along to you!

Sweetwater Branch Inn is one of our favorite venues here in town - the gardens are beautiful and Lauren, Sarah and the rest of the staff are a joy!

One of the great things about Sweetwater too, is it's the perfect place for you and your bridal party to stay before and after the wedding. The rooms are gorgeous and are great for those getting ready shots. Take a look and see what I mean:

By the way - I adore corset back gowns! Amanda's was beautiful too (and that sash!!). Wedding Planner tip - they take time to lace up though! Make sure you give yourself an extra ten to fifteen minutes to get the job done on the wedding day.

Amanda & Craig chose not to see each other before the big moment, so we sneaked her around the back while Craig waited by the garden path.

This was during one of our crazy cold snaps this past spring and it was freezing! The heaters outside kept all the guests toasty for cocktails and Craig's family made a gorgeous cornhole set for guests to play and have fun with. The bridal party got in on the action of course too!

Craig's toast was emotional and so sweet!
